Growing up on the Central Coast of California, surrounded by the rich agricultural land of the Pajaro Valley it was pretty easy to fall in love with food at a young age. Some of my fondest memories as a young boy all have some sort of culinary reference point to them. Coming from a large family that multiplies exponentially when you never exclude friends, it seemed there was always an event of some nature to be had, and those events always included lots of laughter and tons of delicious food. My early culinary style was heavily influenced by both sets of my grandparents; 100% Swedish on one side and a Spanish-Mexican grandmother and English-Scottish grandfather on the other. Over the years that style has continued to mature, world travel has advanced my interest in the global flavors of Mexico, Spain, Italy and the Mediterranean as well as having schooled in Hawai’i, which awarded me a certain affinity for the flavors of the islands. Today my cooking style has come full circle, my motivation is related to regional American cooking and the influence of European and Mexican flavors that made up the early history of California and it’s cuisine long before California Cuisine was “California Cuisine”.

My version of this classic California style consists of melding the philosophies and flavors of rustic country cooking, mission-era foods and rancho style Californio Cuisine with the amazing local ingredients available at this moment. Bringing back memories of foods from years past and a celebration of exciting produce available today with the intention of creating exciting new memories. Retracing my roots, my style has evolved with a passionate commitment to using great local, seasonal and sustainable meat, poultry, seafood and produce as much as possible. I rely heavily on farmer’s markets for inspiration and locally sourced products and prefer to keep those ingredients as natural as possible so you can actually taste them and the seasons. This is how I like to cook for my family and friends and I want you to feel like you’re part of the family too!
