Private Chef Consulting

Over the last few years, as our fondness for personalized service continues to grow, more and more people have been seeking the services of personal chefs.  They’re the new personal trainer, if you will.

Choosing a personal or private chef is a daunting proposition.  You’re inviting this person into your home and asking them to cook food for your family.  A very intimate task, I’m here to walk you through the process of finding and hiring a Personal or Private Chef service.

My goal is to make your life easier.  Whether your challenge is getting a delicious, nutritious meal into your active family, or eating within the parameters of a special diet, I can help you find the right chef to take care of your needs.  I will walk you through the entire, customized process, and present you only with exceptional candidates.

This service is to assist the client in finding an experienced, professional in-home chef with the least amount of headache.  Finding the right chef for your needs, quickly, will remove the stress of the process, provide you with peace of mind and allow you to spend more quality time with your family instead of spending your evenings slogging away in the kitchen.  I will help you weed out the amateurs from the professionals and act as a liaison between the client and chef throughout the process.

The client has many options when it comes to Personal and Private Chef services.  Chefs can be employed to plan, prepare and serve delicious food, according to your taste and/or dietary requirements, on a full-time, weekly or temporary basis.  The first step is to understand the difference between a personal and private chef.  Very simply, Personal chefs have a number of clients and usually only visit once a week to prepare meals while Private chefs usually live with the client or visit every day and prepare meals as needed.

Second step will be deciding if certification or professional affiliation is important to the client. Not all personal chefs belong to a professional chef organization, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t reputable cooks.  This is where I come in, after getting to know the client expectations the third step is to meet with a few chefs in my network and beyond and discuss with them your dietary needs, including any restrictions. The chef will show us sample menus and explain how they operate and will begin to discuss their rates.

The fourth step will be to discuss the chef’s background, their skills, cuisine, food knowledge, dietary knowledge and overall personality in order to understand how qualified the candidate may be to suit the needs of the client.  Fifth, we will have the chef candidate do a tasting.  They will prepare one meal for you so that we can see their cooking style, examine their professionalism and monitor their ability to clean your kitchen to your standards once they are finished.

In order to have reached this point the chef candidate will have had to meet my rigorous standards.  This is the only way I will put my stamp of approval on your future Private Chef.  The final step will be to commit to an agreement with the Chef of your liking on a short term basis, my recommendation is for one to two months as a trial run, with the mutual goal of a long-term agreement at the end of that trial.
